Raising Baby Blue

Three years ago in March my husband and I bought a home that had wonderfully huge trees. We noticed all kinds of bird life which I love, and of course my favorite is the Blue Jay. A month later my husband yelled at me to come in the back yard as he wanted me to see something. I couldn't believe my eyes here was this little baby Blue Jay just sitting there. I looked around for the parents to find none, so I tried to see if it could fly and it could only hop. I knew this was bed as the are feral cats where I live and I knew with no sign of parents this little bird was domed. We decide to leave it where it was a watch from the door encase a cat came in the yard. Well 2 1/2 hrs later. We had to make a big decision because once you raise a wild they only have maybe A 50% chance to live if you release it and I knew once I picked it up it would live with me till it died. Since I have a 18' x 28' Florida room with nothing in it we decide to raise it. We have had her for three years now and just like my fathers bird she is spoiled. She is so trusting of us, even when my grandchildren come over she doesn't mind if they come in her room she won't go them but she will sit on our shoulder and watch them. I know she is a female as she has laid eggs the past two yrs, but because they are not fertile they wont hatch, so I have to take them from the nest when she isn't looking. It takes her a day to notice them gone then another day to stop looking and act as if she never had them. Its sad but she would never make in the wild and she is very happy. We call her BB short for Baby Blue.
